In Denver, Colorado, a grand jury indicted a law enforcement officer with the Denver Law enforcement for an officer-involved shooting in July that injured 6 bystanders, Janet Oravetz studies for 9News. The indictment, built community Wednesday, includes 8 counts of assault, a single rely of prohibited use of a weapon and 5 counts of reckless endangerment. It alleges that Brandon Ramos fired toward an armed suspect equally with the know-how that a group of people were being standing driving him and with no a “clear backdrop” to justify firing his weapon.
The grand jury listened to testimony from 17 witnesses and reviewed 140 exhibits connected to the situation before charging the officer. In contrast to Ramos, two other officers who discharged their weapons all through the incident are described as getting “reasonably believed” their life and the lives of other folks have been in hazard when they fired their guns.
“While the scenario stays an unlucky one particular, and it’s regrettable that harmless bystanders were injured, I’m astonished to see that the grand jury uncovered the officer’s actions included felony intent,” Denver Mayor Michael Hancock explained.
