The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Better Discovering formally named Dr. Joe Paul, as President of the College of Southern Mississippi.

Paul retains a Ph.D. in administration of greater training from the University of Alabama and was named the university’s Most Outstanding Doctoral Pupil in the field in 1985. The Bay St. Louis native gained a bachelor’s degree in communication and political science from USM in 1975, graduating magna cum laude from the College Honors School, and acquired a master’s degree in communication and administration from Southern Overlook in 1978. He was inducted into the College of Southern Mississippi Alumni Corridor of Fame in 2000.
The formal announcement will take place Thursday on campus at 3:00 p.m. in the Thad Cochran Heart. Courses for the working day had already been cancelled in advance of a nationally televised soccer video game on ESPN involving Southern Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette.
